As a proud Stadium alum, I know what it means to have a deep, lifelong connection to this city. That’s exactly what I see in Steve Haverly, also a Stadium Tiger—someone who loves this community the way my father did, with a special passion and commitment to making it better.
Steve brings fresh ideas, a dynamic energy, and a vision that Tacoma desperately needs right now. He understands both the opportunities and the challenges we face, and he’s ready to roll up his sleeves to tackle them head-on. His ability to be a relentless promoter of the city while also recognizing the real work that needs to be done is exactly what we need in a leader.
I have a lot of respect for Anders Ibsen, he's a good man, but after getting to know Steve, I see in him a bold, forward-thinking leader with the drive to move Tacoma in the right direction. He’s not just talking about change—he’s ready to make it happen.
That’s why I’m endorsing Steve Haverly for mayor.

A True Gardener for Tacoma’s Future
As someone who’s spent my life nurturing gardens and watching things grow, I know a thing or two about cultivating a thriving environment. And let me tell you, there’s no one more suited to plant the seeds for Tacoma’s bright future than Steve Haverly. He’s the right person to help our city bloom into its best version yet.
Steve worked with me for a decade shooting “Gardening in America” all over the world. I can promise you that he has the experience to make the tough decisions while giving the city room to flourish. He’s proven to me that he knows how to nurture Tacoma…its communities, schools, and small businesses.
When it comes to local growth, Steve is the kind of leader who knows the difference between weeds and wildflowers. He’s committed to pulling up the obstacles that hinder progress while ensuring that the flowers of innovation, opportunity, and diversity continue to bloom.
Like a vegetable garden that grows food to nourish a family, Steve is dedicated to providing the resources our city needs to thrive. Whether it’s infrastructure, healthcare, or jobs, Steve knows that a strong Tacoma is one where everyone can plant roots and see their dreams come to fruition.
As someone who has spent decades fostering the growth of gardens across the Northwest, I can confidently say that Steve Haverly is the kind of gardener Tacoma needs.
Vote for Steve Haverly for Mayor and let’s grow Tacoma together!

I am honored to endorse Steve Haverly for mayor of Tacoma, as he is deeply committed to addressing the social and economic disparities that have long affected our community. His belief in the diversity of change is central to his vision for Tacoma, ensuring that every voice is represented and that all neighborhoods benefit from development initiatives.
I am voting for him because I believe in his dedication to creating a more equitable Tacoma, where opportunity and prosperity are accessible to all residents.
-Zerek Waters
At my age, I’ve lost a lot of faith in politicians, but Steve has reinvigorated my hope and belief that he can turn Tacoma around and make it better than it’s ever been. I always felt Ebersole and Baarsma were our best mayors and I feel like Steve Haverly’s leadership will run in the same vein.
-Carole Powel
I’ve avoided politics most of my life. It’s always felt confusing to me to see my country divided. I never put an R or D by my name, and I can see that both sides have many great things about them. We need someone who is willing to meet in the middle and discuss the tough issues to come up with fair remedies. We need better safety and protection, we need assistance for small businesses, we need spending transparency.
I could go on and on, but I believe Steve Haverly has our city’s best interest in mind. Let’s all meet in the middle and talk it out. Steve can do it.

Our current Mayor and City Council have not moved the needle on public safety and security in 8 years. We deserve Leaders who will commit to adequately funding and staffing Peace Enforcement, including fielding more designated crisis responders specializing in assessment, stabilization, treatment, and support and helping our most vulnerable find accessible resources.
We need to revitalize our communities. Our current Mayor, City Council, and City Manager won't walk the downtown and Tacoma Dome areas alone. These are supposed to be the center of our city, where art, music, and culture thrive — not the center of decay, where our fellow human beings languish in mental health crises, drug addiction, and their own feces.
We deserve Leaders who measure success with the number of people returning to now-busy, once-empty hulls, not by the number of self-licking ice cream cone proclamations they power-stroke their egos with.
We deserve a strong leader who will return Tacoma to the City of Destiny once again.
Please join me in visualizing Tacoma and voting for Steve Haverly for Mayor.
-Andy Thompson
Heart, vision and a killer work ethic. This is what Tacoma needs from a Mayor. Haverly brings it. He has my vote.
I believe in Steve.
-Odessa Christiana
I played an alien in the 1985 movie cocoon so that obviously makes me qualified to endorse Steve for mayor of Tacoma.
All kidding aside if you want someone with a backbone, who will roll up his sleeves and make Tacoma better, then vote for Steve Haverly.
If you want a candidate that will run Tacoma like Victoria Woodards, then vote for one of the other people seeking the position.
-Tyrone Power Jr.
Tacoma is a total and complete mess.
My friends, who own small businesses, are closing their businesses and leaving here in droves. Washington state is rapidly becoming a place that the middle class cannot afford to live in or retire in. As you pull into Tacoma, you are met with heaps of garbage, homeless encampments and so much graffiti. This city and those that run it should be embarrassed at what they have allowed to happen.
I wholeheartedly endorse Steve for Mayor!
He will be someone who will listen to and respond to the people who live, work and pay taxes. He will be that person who cares about this lovely city and not about his next political stepping stone.
Steve Haverly is the only candidate for mayor that I, or anyone else, can honestly say that about!
-Mary Jo Strom Copland
I will be voting Steve Haverly for mayor of our wonderful city of Tacoma.
Steve is a thoughtful, effective and deliberate communicator with proven management skills and the drive to make our town run better and thrive. I believe Steve is actively committed to governing well for all the fine people of Tacoma.
Vote Steve Haverly.

I am proud to endorse Steve Haverly for mayor of Tacoma, Washington.
As a dedicated community leader, Steve has spent years advocating for equitable economic growth, public safety, and sustainable development. His commitment to affordable housing, small businesses, and addressing homelessness shows a deep understanding of Tacoma’s most pressing challenges. Whether working to improve local schools, supporting neighborhood initiatives, or ensuring transparency in city government, Steve has consistently put Tacoma’s residents first.
With a vision for a more inclusive and thriving city, Steve has the leadership, experience, and integrity needed to guide Tacoma into the future. His ability to bring people together—business owners, educators, first responders, and community advocates—demonstrates the collaborative approach necessary to create real progress. I encourage my fellow Tacoma residents to support Steve Haverly in this important election and help build a stronger, more vibrant city for all.
-Rene Brunold
I’m a Steve Haverly supporter. I am Libertarian who is hard on crime, punishment, and border control. I am soft on social medicine, and taking care of those who can’t take care of themselves.
I’ve known Steve for 30+ years as foe and friend… he is strong on family and fiercely loyal! We don’t always agree, but will always be friends.
Vote Haverly!
-Rick Price
Tacoma’s not just a steel-and-concrete backdrop; it’s the heart of a community that stubbornly needs to invest in doing better one student and one recycled bottle at a time.
Steve knows that education shouldn’t be a privilege; it should be a right. It’s about getting kids to think bigger, push harder, and take ownership of their future.
Recycling in Tacoma is abysmal and clearly broken and Steve knows it’s time we took responsibility for how we live and how we use this city. It’s about keeping our streets clean, but it’s also about building an economy that thrives on innovation and real action.
If you want a mayor who really knows about education and sustainability, who will push for a better future without the smoke and mirrors, Steve Haverly is the one. Tacoma deserves someone who cares, who listens, and who knows this city inside and out. This isn’t about politics as usual. It’s about making a real difference.
-Tina Cunning
It is without hesitation that I recommend Steve Haverly for Mayor of Tacoma.
Steve has proven himself to be a dependable, reliable, dedicated, hard working person with a will for perfection and an attitude of steadfastness and a vision for the future. Steve also possesses excellent work habits of punctuality, organization and clear communication.
I have known Steve since we were both in Junior High School together and he will be an asset to our city and will perform all the functions of Mayor in an accurate and timely fashion.
-Brett Roebuck
Steve stopped by Barlow Gallery last month, and we had a great talk about the present state of the city of Tacoma.
Even today, well past Covid, there are too many empty storefronts, too many empty office buildings, too many days with the downtown core looking like a ghost town.
Different business groups gather each month and talk about how great the city is and will become but perhaps one answer is for new leadership who will turn aspirations into actions. And we too will act, producing a series of new art + music +community events this year to bring more people downtown, to engage again.
-Ron Stevenson
“Cleaning up the streets, focusing on homeless solutions, supporting Small Business, funding Police Crisis Response all while revitalizing Art & Film wins my support!”
-Mel Chappell
Steve Haverly is someone who clearly loves Tacoma and has great ideas how to make it better.
I'm incredibly excited about his plan to revitalize downtown - which includes FINALLY addressing the parking issue! This is a problem that has plagued Tacoma for years, inhibiting any meaningful growth or development. But what most makes me the most enthusiastic booster to Steve Haverly is his commitments to the arts AND (especially) the return of the film industry to Tacoma!!
This state has missed golden opportunity after golden opportunity to have films shot here because we have been too short-sighted to see how much money that the industry could bring in. Steve Haverly is NOT short-sighted. He has an impressive vision of what this city can be, and he wants all of us to VISUALIZE TACOMA.
-John Kephart
Steve Haverly understands that leadership is a privilege, not a career move.
His vision is bold, his loyalty to Tacoma is unwavering, and his approach is grounded in real-world solutions.
At a time when our city needs strong leadership, Steve is ready to step up and make Tacoma thrive.
That’s why I’m endorsing Steve Haverly for mayor.
-Carolanne Knoll
By virtue of its geography, its topography, its atmospherics, and its cosmic vibrations, Tacoma is a Mythic place, which has been loved by its folks for thousands of years – being an inhabited place since the retreat of the great glaciers long, long ago.
This is our treasure-place in the cosmos. It should continue to grow into a place where citizens thrive and pursue their happiness in a city full of the inspiration of the arts.
The role of a leader is to conduct such a civic climate; or at the very least, not hinder such a climate.
Steve Haverly has a strong love of Tacoma. It is told that when he was a young maverick, a wise woman recognized Haverly’s natural charisma and leadership ability and encouraged him to throw his hat into the arena of civic service.
Haverly fully embraces the gritty artfulness of this exquisite town. His dynamism and civic pride, married to his vision, can help make Tacoma the City of Destiny that it has always been destined to be.
